Children's drawings of "Peace", doves, hearts and the globe hang on a line above the stage in a church; a screen reads "Lions helpen! Raalte".

Peace Week is over, but the attention for peace goes on. As part of the Lions Peace Poster Contest (PPC), more than 350 children from the municipality of Raalte have now made a peace poster.

With their drawings the children show what peace means to them. The colourful artworks are about respect, friendship, living together, understanding and hope. Working creatively with this subject challenges children to think about their own part in a peaceful society.

During Peace Week several schools exhibited their drawings at locations across the municipality. This let residents discover the inspiring ideas and messages of the young artists. Other schools are still working on their entries and will add their drawings in the coming weeks.

Peace Week closed with a gathering together with Pax. There was plenty of attention for the impressive contributions of the children. The gathering also reflected on the importance of peace, connection and understanding for one another.

On 26 October an expert jury judges all the entries. That will be no easy task, because the quality, creativity and commitment of the participants are high.

With the Peace Poster Contest, Lions Club Raalte gives children a stage to develop their talents and to think about social themes that matter. In this way we invest together in the future of our young people and in a society built on respect and connection.

We thank all the children, teachers and schools who took part for their enthusiastic contribution.
